Investigation in Repeated Miscarriages

I. Routine :

  • CBC – To rule out anaemia
  • ESR
  • Platlet count
  • FBS/ PLBS – To rule out Diabetes
  • HBA1C – To rule out Diabetes
  • T3 T4 TSH – To rule out Hypothyroidism/ Hyperthyroidism
  • Bld group
  • HIV
  • HBsAG
  • HCV

II. Infection profile : To rule out Infection as possible cause:

  • Toxoplasma ( IgG & IgM)
  • Rubella ( IgG & IgM)
  • CMV ( IgG & IgM)
  • Herper Simplex ( IgG & IgM)
  • Chlamydia ( IgG & IgM)

III. For Auto Immune disorder

  • ANA ( Anti Nuclear Antibody)
  • DS-DNA ( Double Stranded DNA)

IV. For Antiphopsholipin Syndrome:

  • APTT/PTTK
  • Anti cardiolipin Antibodies ( IgG & IgM)
  • Lupus anticoagulant

V. Investigations for Anatomical defects : To rule out Congenital uterine defects ( Bicornuate uterus, Septate uterus etc.), Uterine fibroids, polyps, Asherman´┐Żs syndrome etc.

  • Ultrasonography
  • Hysterosaplingography
  • Lapraroscopy/ Hysteroscopy.

VI. Investigations for Chromosomal defects : To rule out possible Genetic cause.

  • Karyotype of abortus/products of conception – to find out chromosomal defects in the aborted fetus
  • Parental Karyotype – to find out minor chromosomal defects in parents

Lymphocyte Crossmatch:

  • (If couple is for Immunotherapy)
